On being a Third Culture Kid
Third Culture kids live in a different environment during a significant part of their childhood. I’m a Third Culture Kid.
I didn’t know this term so I just called it “Identity Crisis”.
I grew up in 8 different cities, moving every 2-3 years. Most of my time was spent adapting and now I’m quite comfortable connecting with people from different walks of life. I love new outlooks and it feeds my curiosity.
There is no ‘home’ so it’s always funny when you ask me where I’m from. I’m lucky to have had many places I’ve felt at home. I love the places I visit and always imagine the possibilities of having the grand adventure of living there.
As I grow older I understand better how it shapes my worldview, perception of events, my ability to understand others, quickly fit in at work, develop friendships, and talk to anyone.
